We are looking for enthusiastic, energetic staff for live-in counsellor positions.  Areas of teaching are swimming, sailing, canoeing, kayaking, arts & crafts, nature and dramatics.  Because of our strong waterfront focus, Bronze Cross, Standard First Aid and CPR are required for all counsellor staff. NLS certification preferred.

Counsellors at Northway have the opportunity to spend the summer living in Algonquin Provincial Park, while helping girls age 7-16 to experience an amazing summer of learning, friendship and fun. Note that all campers and staff at Northway live in platform tents.

NOTE: Counsellors will need to have Bronze Cross, and if a re-certification only is needed, we will provide that at camp during Pre-Camp.

We are looking for enthusiastic, energetic staff with experience leading canoe trips. This is a great opportunity for those who love canoe tripping and working with children. Trips are planned throughout Algonquin Provincial Park, a world-class canoe-tripping preserve. Staff are required to have Bronze Cross, Wilderness First Aid and CPR. We provide Wilderness First Aid training onsite between June 21 – 30. Join us for an amazing summer of fun and leadership.

NOTE: we will be running a full certification course for Wilderness First Aid, so new guides can get certified at camp during Pre-Camp. All guides are also required to have their Bronze Cross certification, and, if a re-certification is needed, we will provide that at camp during Pre-Camp (June 21 – 30).

We are looking for enthusiastic, energetic, team-oriented staff to prepare snacks and meals for campers and staff. The Kitchen staff work together to prepare food, clean up, and interact with campers as required. Food Handlers Certification is an asset.

Our kitchen staff are very much a part of camp life. Just like our campers and counsellors, you will live in a platform tent at camp.

During Pre-Camp set-up:
Prior to the start of camp, you will organize the First Aid supplies and materials in our Red Cross building; review the camper and staff health forms, and prepare an Index Card for each camper to note any special health concerns, medications, etc. A list of any missing forms should be compiled, and canoe trip First Aid Kits should be stocked.

During Camp:
At the start of each session, you will collect and store medications from campers/ parents/ counsellors as they arrive, and help lead lice checks for all campers.

You’ll hand out any medications as needed, and be available for campers and staff for first aid. You will be responsible for record-keeping for the Health Centre, tracking inventory and providing a list of needed items for re-stocking. As any additional health information is received, you’ll update files. If anyone requires a trip to the doctor (we share a camp doctor with another camp on an adjacent lake) or hospital, you will accompany them.

As canoe trips depart, you will hand out First Aid Kits to trip counsellors, review the health cards of the campers with their trip counsellor, and prepare medications for any campers who will need it for their trip. When trips return, you will collect Trip First Aid Kits, and re-stock them.

As each session ends, you’ll return medications to campers who are departing.
